After many years in the industry we began operating independently as Sharpe Engineering Inc. in 1993. In addition to work for hire engagements, we also develop our own IP via SBIR contracts, independently funded research, and through partnerships with other organizations.
As founder of Sharpe Engineering Inc. Jim has over 30 years of professional experience combining extensive analytical and technical skills with strong leadership, communication and organizational abilities. In addition to his private sector background, he has completed contracts for DARPA and the Missile Defense Agency and is currently working under a research contract for the Office of Naval Research. Special areas of technical expertise include advanced analysis techniques, cloud computing, and service oriented architectures. Relevant activities include developing client relationships, proposal writing, team building, and project management. He has performed in numerous capacities throughout the solution development lifecycle. Some primary activities have included identifying markets and business opportunities, developing requirements, designing architectures and applications, developing and evaluating prototype implementations, creating development, testing and deployment plans, and defining and applying software engineering best practices. As an experienced professional he believes that true excellence and outstanding performance involve more than simply exceeding expectations. In the long run, how a result is achieved is often as important as the result itself. I take pride finding optimal solutions through a combination of technical innovation and team performance.
Robert Goettge has a Ph. D. in applied mathematics and over 30 years experience in Research and Development of software products for management of mission critical software applications. Dr. Goettge has been principal/co-investigator on 12 Phase I/Phase II SBIR projects. He transitioned three Phase II SBIRs into Phase III with commercial partners, resulting in three products used by both the Government and offered commercially by such companies as Legent Software, Computer Associates, Platinum Technology, Precise Software, and VERITAS.
Dr. Goettge is now Senior Technologist with Quantitative Virtualization in Denver. In this position he directs R&D of software products for dynamic management of cloud computing resources to ensure availability and performance service levels while optimizing resource usage. He will focus his technical contributions to the proposed Phase I project in the areas of system sizing and performance analysis. His experience with product commercialization will be used throughout Phase I to position the project’s research result for productization as a commercially viable offering. He will ensure that a view of markets needs, both Government and private, are considered throughput Phase I as well as identifying Phase II/III partners for productization, marketing, and distribution.
